Hyperbaric therapy and COVID-19

The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Society (UHMS) states that current research shows that the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) may aid the recovery of patients with COVID-19 symptoms.

“With the worsening of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, and without any major therapeutic or preventive innovations emerging, increasing attention has been paid to the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to overcome hypoxia in the blood of COVID-19.”

Our commitment to safe care

Aviv Clinics general guidelines and cleaning protocols for the prevention of COVID-19

Headquartered in the Center for Advanced Healthcare in Brownwood in The Villages, Aviv Clinics puts the health of customers and employees first.

As we continue to deal with the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, we have put in place safety guidelines and cleaning protocols in order to maintain a healthy environment. We want our customers to feel reassured that we are doing everything we can to keep them, their families, and our employees safe.

Safety guidelines for hyperbaric hyperbaric therapy

– In-suite treatments are limited to seven clients, or 50% of capacity, and one person per seat, with space or an empty seat between each client.

Exceptions may be granted to spouses, residents of the same household, or relatives, subject to the approval of the supervising physician.

People inside the treatment ward will use a face mask and hand sanitizer.

We also ask all customers to wear cloth or medical masks during breaks, while following the rules of social distancing.

 

Cleaning of hyperbaric therapy equipment and tools

We sanitize and clean all hyperbaric equipment on the ward after each use. This includes cleaning all tablet screens, chairs, oxygen masks and hoses, headphones, oxygen flow meters, and all contact surfaces.

The Vitals station is sanitized between each patient, and finally, Aviv Clinics cleans and disinfects all frequently touched surfaces every day. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, worktops, knobs, desks, telephones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks.

General guidelines for employees

We have developed the following guidelines for employees in our clinics.

• Measuring and recording temperatures daily upon arrival at work and following the preventive instructions.

• Wash hands often for at least 20 seconds using soap and water.

• Avoid touching the eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact, and stay at least six feet away from others. Do not gather in groups of more than 10 people.

 

We also require staff to cover the mouth and nose with a face cloth when others are present.

Masks must be worn in public or in small groups.

Masks protect others in case you are infected and you do not have symptoms.

People should keep in mind that masks are not a substitute for social distancing.

Test Instructions

Aviv Clinics is also committed to offering voluntary antibody testing to all clients and clinic staff. These tests reveal the presence of antibodies to the Covid-19 virus. The clinic will also conduct weekly random PCR tests on more than 5% of clinic staff and active clients. This test is among the most widely used tests to detect infection with the Covid-19 virus.
